Hi, I’m Meg Niman
I spent 17 years designing and shipping technology products at LeapFrog, Tellme, Microsoft/Xbox, Fitbit, NIO, Lighthaus (educational VR), and IndeVets.
I know product design and user research. I have experience working at small startups (4th hire), growing companies, and massive corporations. In all these professional situations, I found myself looking for more meaning in life.
Enter alter egos.
While building a successful consulting business in Philadelphia, I wielded the power of alter egos in contract negotiations and new leadership roles.
I have Dee, Chloe, Earnestine, The Troll, Megalamaniac, and Logitor, to name a few. I continue to work with alter egos to expand my leadership within The Alter Ego Project.
Prior to my tech adventure, I taught elementary school in San Jose with Teach For America and have a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I graduated Wellesley College with a degree in Cognitive Science with a focus in Psychology.
I am a creative person who took a sabbatical to travel the US in an RV with my wife and dog and made a short film inspired by the whole affair. I’m also a certified 200-hour yoga teacher, a fun-loving community musician, and a local hiker.
What IS The Alter Ego Prokect?
How it started
Before the pandemic, I had a confluence of events that changed my life.
In 2018, I:
Got divorced
Was let go from a job
Moved across the country
These events were the catalyst for years of discovery about my alter egos, which has expanded to The Alter Ego Project, exploring how alter egos can help each of us.
Where it’s going
I’m on a mission to make life a little easier for people. To bring awareness and mindfulness to our lives in playful ways. To give us permission to try new things with curiousity and creativity.
